I know water stagnates rather quickly, so I just wanted to check...

My filter suddenly died last week, naturally it had a good, long life, so I guess it's happier in that big fishtank up in the sky, where the bigger bioloads no longer roam xD

Regardless, I had to move my four inch Dojo, quarter sized angel, two penny sized angels, and my Banjo cat to my two inch SAP's ten gallon temp. home. It's been five days, and I finally got a new filter for the breeder tank, but I fear the water has gone stagnate, and I doubt that it is good for the fish. I don't think the fish can stand being in the ten gallon much longer, especially not a month while my big tank cycles, so what should I do? Could I get away with a 75% change, or anything like that? If worse comes to worse, I could always dump the 10g's water into the breeder tank, and add more I guess.... and questions, ideas, input? I need to know before my angels fins completely disappear. [Yes, my puffer is a relentless little beastie.]

test the water and then go from there

ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - somewhere around 20

while yer out getting it tested.. bring $25 and get the AIP master kit... it will last you a year or so and you will never have to wait again..

So your plan is to cycle the new filter with your beloved fish?

with fresh water with a 75 - 80% water change your angels will be able to go through the cycle.... i've had the same problem before but i did not have the luguary of a ten gallon tank :D i changed the water and set up the new filter after my fish were living in a stagnate water for almost 2 days.. .haha..

your arrowan is to small for that tank.. ha.. hahaha.

Ya, but at least it's cycled

Moving water from the cycled tank to the new tank will not do ****.

Also, LFS tend to test inaccurately and improperly. That is why I will spend 15 bucks on DFS for my own test kits... I kinda hand them out to people that I know have fish and don't necessarily take care of them properly, along with a handout I made about basic water quality information. Most ignorant people wont do anything if you say they are overstocked, but when they see it in number they tend to change for the better.
