I was curious, is there a product out there that allows you to raise the kH and the GH without affecting the pH? I am making RO water, and I want to raise the kH to right around 8°dkH and the gH to around 15°dgH+. I've been using RO right to treat the water and then I've been using Cichlid Buffer from Kent, however, I can't raise the hardness of the water without significantly raising the pH. The reason I'm going through the trouble is that I want to emulate another water source, that has been the source of water for my tanks. Anyone know. . . ?

ive never heard of one sorry.... maybe there is one.?? looked on google?

Yeah that I've heard, baking soda raises kH without really affecting gH, and I think it will inevitably stop raising the pH at I believe is somewhere around 8. I've been using Kents Cichlid Buffer, I simply under dose it and I get right around the pH I need however, I want to raise the hardness a bit more without affecting the pH. I was thinking can I ween fish off a harder water to a little softer without compromising their health? When I use my RO water, I replenish it with some trace elements, by using RO right, and then treat it with cichlid buffer, which I am able to get the water to right around a pH of 7.6 and kH to about 4dkH and gH to about 2dgH.

(the water that I have been using before was: pH- 7.6 kH-8dkH gH- 18dgH)

Maybe I'll get more responses in the general aquaria section.

bump. . . see if anyone else can shed some light. . .
