This is my first post in this category. I hope you guys can help me out.
I've got a 240 gallon freshwater tank 8' long. The whole time I've had the tank (7 months) the water has had a white haze. I've tried polishing pads, no luck.
I bought a diatom filter, followed the directions, even put their charcoal in it, improvement but still has haze. I've got one 7" rectic, 14+ aro, 5 clown loaches (2" to 2 1/2"), and an african knife (5").
My filtration is 2 canisters and a sump. Turnover is about 4 to 5 times an hour. I'm thinking it might be coming out of my tap this way because after I do a water change their is no difference. What seems strange to me though is that my 55 gallon discus growout tank seems crystal clear. Has anyone had this problem, and how did you solve? Does anyone use a UV sterilizer on their tanks to improve water clarity? The clearest salt water tank I ever saw had a UV unit on it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
