water lettuce and silver?/

would it be ok to put some water lettuce in my silvers tank, or do you think that im taking a lil bit of space from him (since it just floats on the surface and thats where he spends most of his time.. i just put them in last night, to see if he would mind.. any thoughts??

I had floating plants with my aros, it did make them swim lower in the tank. They seem to get frustrated though at feeding time.
