alright more specific: (freshwater tank)what are some way i can keep my ph, nitrates, nitrites, and amonia down, nitrates havnt really been my issue lately, but my ph and nitrites will be high one day and then the next day they will be low. my quesion is, what do i put in or keep out of my tank in order to maintain the right water levels

If I may suggest, or ask, which ever way this comes out:
Make certain, absolute certain, that your filtration system is adequate, mature and well maintained. This will handle the NH3 NH4+ NO2- NO3-. As for the pH, find the source of the fluctuations after ruling out what I have all ready mentioned.
