Isla Taboga Panama via Milwaukee
Finally ran across a person (on Panama's version of Craigs list) selling water lilies. I haven't seen any in any of the bodies of water I pass. An angelfish breeder, he has a couple small ones in a stock tank, and easily parted with them, said he had more at his place in the interior.
They were about 20 inches tall, with small pads, @ 2'" in diameter.

Put the two plants adjacent to the front glass, where most natural light hits, and surface agitation is the least.

The stems are unobtrusive, yet the vascular veining on the underside of the leaves are interesting.

Within 24 hours, stems had grown 4 " with leaves already breaking the surface.

Very nice find.

All the lilies I kept in a pond in the states produced white flowers.

These are quite young, but being tropical, I'm hoping for some variation in color.
The tank may end up being too small, so one of the 300 gallon Rubbermaids may need to be searched out.

Any idea as to the type of lily that you have? It's got a nice green color vs the reds and purples that mine show until it hits the surface20190908_084433.jpg

I don't have any idea on species yet, I will ask next time I get more.
Considering going the 300 gal Rubbermaid route, for more, and in a more sunny area of the yard.
Under the first few inches of soil, its all rock here, so digging a pond in isn't an option, and the plethora of cane toads that would spawn in, and produce toxic tadpoles, means anything they can access, requires a side to keep them out.

Even now the patio needs to rinsed every morning to wash off the toad feces, and at night they eat any dog food left over, and krap in its water dish. The one above is about the size of a Chihuahua.

Floating and submerged leaves are different in shape, size and color. Do all lily stop producing submerged leaves once they find the surface?
