I have a 180 with some Vieja, a GT, and some clown loaches. I recently switched to pool filter sand, and now I'm getting poop all collecting in a couple locations on the sand no matter how I align my powerhead. For water movement I have an old-style Maxijet1200(before they got the circulation piece), an XP3, 2 AC110s and a couple sponge filters. Given the fish I have, I'm considering ordering 2 new model Maxijet 1200s and taking my old one out. This would give me about 2300GPH more flow in the tank. What do some of you guys think? Too much flow for the Vieja and GT? I've heard that increasing the flow would also help keep the aggression of some CA down since they're too busy in the current. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. ;)

In my tank I run a couple powerheads. I always place them to just push across the whole tank. Have the filter intake on the other side of the tank.

I don't think that would be too much flow. Can always place some stuff in the tank the fish can hide from the flow. But fish are easy going with flow as long as they are not super small fry.

as long as there is a dead spot i dont see any harm. if Ur fish are stuck against the glass then unplug one
