Ok heres the deal two of my tanks are reading 0PPM Nitrites, Nitrates, an Ammonia. These tanks have HOB filters an or canister filters.

My third tank is reading 0PPm Ammonia, under 5PPM Nitrites an Nitrates. This tank has a DIY Wet/dry on it.

I always thought it was nearly impossible to have 0PPM nitrites an Nitrates. But thats what I always get for readings when I test my water on these tanks.

the fish arent dying or anything an I know the tanks have cycled, it just seems odd to me.
Anyone have any thoughts?

What test kit are you using? The freshwater master test kit by api does go bad after several months, and will give bad readings.

thats what im using. But if its gone bad, why would one set of tests be different from two others on a consistant basis?

I had one that registered nitrates at 300ppm out of the tap. I checked it against another of the same type of test and it registered 5ppms. I don't use API test kits anymore unless I have to.

What kind of tests do you use now? Looks like Im in the market for a better test kit.
