Lately I've been trying to get the water quality of my 240 gallon back into shape. It kinda went into old tank syndrome, having the nitrates at an elevated level. Took four 40% water changes to bring it back down, but at least it's safe now. Anyway, onto my question, testing my tank water and tap water, I'm wondering what products (if any) I should use to help boost my water quality and make my fish a little happier.
My 240 currently houses a silver arowana, clown knife, shove nose cat fish, 2 large plecos, and a two smaller catfish.
Tank water
Nitrates: 30 ppm
Nitrites: 0 ppm
Hardiness: 125 ppm
Alkalinity: 10 ppm
PH: 6.6
Tap water
Nitrates: 0~ ppm
Nitrites: 0 ppm
Hardiness: 75 ppm
Alkalinity: 30 ppm
PH: 6.6
I usually use neutral regulator during water changes to remove chlorine and raise the PH a bit, however I'm running low and need to get some more, so I've just been using basic chlorine remover. I'm not too sure on what ideal arowana specs are, but if someone could chime in on that, it would help a great deal. I'm not really too worried about the clown knife since he's always pretty happy, but the arowana has been really shy lately. Also again, if anyone could give some tips as to what products or tricks to boost water quality, that would help a ton. Thanks!
