OK I was wondering my water parameters are pH 7.7 GH 12 KH 9. Can I keep discus?

That is too high of a ph and too hard for their natural state, but most discus that have been captive bred can live in a high range of ph and degrees of hardness.

I have a friend who has kept them in a ph of 8.0 (can't recall the hardness). It is much better to keep them in a stable environment than reach for a certain parameter.

Discus can survive and will thrive in pH's of about 8.2 and below.

Wild strains may have a harder time adjusting.

Yes, you can keep them in that kind of water - I've bred them in a pH of 7.6-7.8

Try to find local breeders so the fish are already acclimated to your water conditions.

That isn't too bad, but you can add some peat moss to your filter and naturally lower the hardness.
