I guys just a quick one, i know consistency is more important with water parameters but what’s the best for breeding cichla or are they not fussy as long as there’s no extremes
I’d like to get a pair breeding eventually ( well that’s my goal ) so would like to get the water perameters suitable slowly now ready for when I get a pair mature enough to breed.
Just curious about Ph, kh and gh
My tap water My tank water
Ph-6.5 Ph-7-8
Kh- 0 Kh- 10
Gh- 0 Gh- 3
I use dechlorinating filters before adding water to the tank and As you can see from my tap water I have to buffer my water because I’ve had ph crashes in the past.

I personally don’t have experience with spawning but I have had wc bass lay eggs for me multiple times she hadn’t paired with any male, Frequent water changes cooler that tank temperature didn’t measure exact temps of the water just by feel moderate feedings pellets in the morning meaty foods at night. I had read here on the forums that you could get cichlids to spawn by simulating rainy season so I did a test run and basically I did a water change every other day for a few weeks she layed eggs twice for me at this schedule both times other tank mates ate the eggs eventually she did protect the eggs at first. It would have been nice to have bought a male and hopefully get them to pair but to many tanks and fish and me not being able to let the ones I had go at the time. I get attached to my fish :)
