Water polishing DIY

I am going to hook up a pump to a 1 micron whole house filter and let it run for 2 hours a week on my tanks.

I know the carbon will clog fast but, I think I can get a couple months out of it by only filtering one a week.

is this a lame Idea?

Not lame, actually works well. Check into sediment type filter cartridges.

I was thinking about using this with a spare rio 610 I have.

I could get the whole setup for 30 bucks.

The cartridge info. says it is only rated at 10 GPM

It should work fine as long as you don't force a whole bunch of water through it.

You can also put several in series with different cartridges.

(and if your real ambitious you can tear apart an old filter to make your own special one)
