I am looking for suggestions for a water pump to go alongside an Arctica Titanium Chiller, 1/4 horsepower, that I am planning on buying. It will be used to cool my 110 gallon tank by 15 degrees. I am unsure of what gph is needed on the pump, however. I asked a store manager and he said 500-700, but he is not that impartial. Prices range all over the map as well. Eheim hobby series pumps are "normal priced" until the 1250 series at 69.99 and 400 gph, and then nearly double at the 1260 range (650gph) (119.99). The equivalent mag drive at 500gph costs 57.99, with the 700gph version being ~$65.
Cost isn't the greatest concern here, but as I am unsure of how much gph I need and what I should be looking for in a water pump to be used in conjuction with a cooler, given my tank size, I nevertheless trying to economize. Eheim has a strong brand bame and I have never heard of many other pump brands, including mag drive, but they seem respectable.
Any suggestions, given my setup?
