I need some help..My new tank is much farther from a water source then my previous tank. The closest I have is my bathroom which is about 12 feet from the tank. The tank is roughly 5 feet high on the stand. What pump should I use to get the water up from the tub to the tank?

Eric

For water changes or..........?

Winter home for the fish  .

Ok, A self priming non-submersible / submersible pump at least 60gpm @ 8ft head will do it.

Whatever pump you get, use atleast 8ft of head as the standard for measuring output .

Clamp or hold the hose at each end.

Preferrably have the shut-off (electrical or a valve) near the tank since that's where you'll probably be.

I agree. Just get a python. problem solved. If i used a pump I would use 400-500 gph.

This is strickly for water changes. I would love to use a python however I didn't think that would fit with a bathtub fixture? Please correct me if I am wrong as that would be much easier!

You can buy a fitting to fit on a standard sink that you can only use when you do water changes and when you are done, change it back. It runs a couple dollars at the LFS.

I actually have a faucet that the fitting didnt work on. I just made the hose longer to use the outside hose.

After a little trip to home depot I made it work...It goes from the Shower head hose to a 1/2 to 1/2 fitting to a 1/2 male to 3/4 female fitting and then into the python. It will hopefully make my water changes a breeze.
