just out of wondering............

why is it that aros need such clean water.. when they are breed in ponds that are brown and looks muddy water?

ive always wondered. cuz if they can breed then and have like 30 ina pound how come they want clean clean water in tanks? im not saying i dont clean my tank. i do . just wondering cuz i looked on this site about breeding them and they breed them in ponds and have brown water.

i was just shocked :WHOA:

i'm wondering the same

the water is muddy in breading ponds because they are earthen ponds and there is diect sunlight on the pond also causes green water, there is bigger volume of water in ponds compare to tanks

"clean" doesnt mean its not muddy, rather low in nitrates and amonia I'm guessing.

yup, the mud doesn't necessarily contain ammonia, nitrite/nitrates and pollution. Some earth/mud etc is harmless, just looks nasty. Look at a lot of areas of the amazon, yet that's some of the purest water going.

ALthough actually, I don't think aros need the best water quality, they are a hardy fish. I'd say an arowana could survive worse conditions than the average fish, not to the level as wolf fish, snakeheads, clarias catfish etc that could live in a swamp, but I don't think aros are as uber sensitive as some claim.

agreed with all the above, the clarity of water does not always relate to the quality of it.
