I have some Peacock Bass that are getting to be around 12-15 in they are healthy and coloring up fairly well but seem to lack that spectacular coloration that i have seen in others of the same species on the internet. I added a Fluval FX5 filter believing that the problem could simply be water quality. What are your thoughts on the subject? Will yhe measures I took be enough?

I would try to compare them to other live fish as opposed to pictures on the internet. Pictures can be touched up, contrast, brightness, color saturation, temp ect. these things along with lighting, substrate and background color can have a big influance on the way the fish look in a photograph. The actual fish may not be as vivid as the photograph suggests. Post a pic of your fish if possibile.

One other thing that has an effect on color is sunlight, generally outdoor fish in ponds are more colorful than there tank rased counter parts. This may not be the case in your instance I just mentioned it as an FYI.

What are your water parameters? Setup specifications?

Changing your whole set up so the colors contrast really helps (for example black background). I haven't messed with a lot of lighting set ups but I love the way the color comes out with natural sunlight. your bass might be just as colorful but you might not even know it :)

What are you feeding it?

They are in an indoor tank with a bright light that has the slightest shade of blue in it.
