Water Softener Salt, OK?

I have heard about people using water softener salt but I was always worried about additives in it and then I saw this (link below) is 99.8% pure and the other one says it contains neither YPS nor iodine and is NSF certified. Are these OK to use? Is one better than the other?

also to add, I am wanting to use this for treating disease and parasites.

I think it should be ok, I've heard of others using it. It's basically the same as rock salt, just powdered and pressed into pellets for water softeners. Make sure to disolve the pellets in a separate container prior to dosing the tank. Powder one of the pellets first to see exactly how many teaspoons each pellet is. Will make dosing easier.

ok, i found what I was looking for if anybody else was interested.

Mortan White Crystal® Solar Salt is 99.5% pure, it even says on their website that its safe for aquariums and ponds.
