i finally found out what are some of the plants i have in my pond, one of them is water spinach, anybody know how exactly these grow when settled in? right now they seem to just be growing upwards, i want them to spread out over parts of the pond for cover. will they do that?

Got a pic. or latin name?

Common names can cause problems....

Never heard of spinach, lettuce yes.

scientific name is Ipomoea aquatica, comes from southeast asia, i actually got mine from an asian market, it was sold as as food, but it was still freshly cut so i went and planted them in my pond and they regenerated roots and have been growing very well. i dont have a camera so i cant show you pics of mine, but heres a google image that looks like it...

I would think it should take off soon. if it has roots, and there is plenty of nutrients in the water it should go.

It is called "Morning Glory" or "Kong Kon". Great healthy food. Yes it will root and grow on its on. We eat it all of the time here in Thailand.
