water stains in the tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yep yep.

i see on the internet to use kaboom or lime-a-way, etc.

by the way, there is no fish in the tank or water, im just cleaning it up before i set it up in my house.

I assume the aquarium is empty and dry.

Use a sponge with vinegar or lemon juice. If you need to go hardcore, get some diluted hydrochloric acid. Another option is decalcifying solution for coffee machines or pH minus from the aquarium store. They all work.

Good luck,

ahhhhhhhhh what that is, is a calcium build up ... use a razor blade carefully and remove as much as you can (this can be a time taker) then get a nice algae pad and scrub out good in saltwater

theabove and i must of posted at the same time Vingar is also a great idea but start with the blade

take about a teaspoon full of iodized table salt and a few drops of dawn dish soap and scrub your tank with your hand. It works like a charm every time for me.

DO NOT USE DISH SOAP

Werd, just use a razor blade and water if it is glass. If it is acryllic, I don't know what to do because you can't use razors. I would say, add water and a bunch of powerheads and do water changes til the junk goes away. (It is water soluable after all)

Two options: fill it with water, and use a magnetic algae scraper. OR: Use toilet bowl cleaner, it will remove anything easily, just be sure to rinse extremely thoroughly, then fill the tank and add prime. I do this, never had a problem.

To be safe IMO I would stay away from detergents and chemicals. A wet razor is safer and alot less work than scrubbing with soaps.
