Is it okay to keep bass at 80 degrees?

Yeah thats what I thought. My tank is at room temp. My buddy who wants to house one of them...has a 155 gal. tank at 80 degree's and I want to make sure they will be okay.

65d? no way. Well ya but he will be a sleeping giant... mine goes into sleep mod around 70... i diss like it. Cuz then they sit on the ground and dont move all day long. So i have to keep mine around 75 just to see him move around some more and take food from me.

I have kept mine at 80, but it was too spastic. Seems to enjoy 70 deg water more, and is much healthier too. Always got fin rot at higher temps.

Ewurm, Did your ever have problem at 70? like it would just lay around all day and stay still?

Mine is kept at 74-78, room temp depending on season. Though they are very much capabile of handling 80 F or even higher I would not do it for an extended period of time.

No, mine is active. He swims around quite a bit. Is your lighting too bright or something?

I keep mine at 68 or so and he is extremely active. Nothing slows that fish down. But then again I have alot of plants to subdue the lighting.

Yeah my tank has even been lower then 68 degrees. Pretty much always active. I also have lots of plants to cover half the light. Mine seem to stay pretty active even in colder water.

I'm gonna keep my new tank at about 70 though.
