I'v been told that the temp. of the water plays a major role in what you stock in your tank. Like now my temp. is any where in between 79 & 81ish with 5 small fish for the water cycle 2-swordtails, and 3-tetras. This list is what I would like to get in my 100gal but as for the hillstream loaches I have seen that they require cooler temp. than most of the other fish that I want to stock my tank with, want type of effect will it have on the hillstreams and can they still live in the warmer water.

My list as of now:

1-Black Ghost Knife
6-Clown Loaches
6-Hill Stream Loaches
1-Elephant Nose
1-Baby Whale
2-Chamelon Whiptale Catfish
2-Black Gibbiceps Plecos L-083
2- Golden Alge Eaters
1-Congo Dolpin or Bottlenose Mormyrid

usually anything between 26-28 degrees celcius is perfect for all tropicals, cept for discus and juvie cichla which need 29-30 degrees celcius...that's real brieft tho haha

Im sure the Hill streem Loaches require a lot cooler water than that. They also require fast moving highly aireated water too.

:iagree: 68*F - 74*F tops. Tanks for these critters are usually specialized river tanks.

And I don't think you have enough room for that many as they get feisty towards each other in close quarters , plus you have to let algae grow for them.

Opiate where did you get your numbers from?

Dr Joe

.

Next question is do they look like #1 or #2. I know in the UK these 2 are often mislabed by unscruplious LFS. #1 being the Hill Streem Loach. #2 Weather loach

All your mormyrids are going to clash including the Black Ghost Knife. Even the algae eaters and gibbiceps can be territorial. Also unless you like constantly lifting up rocks, your tank is going to be pretty empty looking.

i just read it n an aquarium hobby book, like i said tho what i wrote was incredibly brief...in the book its much more in depth....

Les, none of those fish will ever fit with hillstream loaches. I responded in your other thread. Keep those hillstream loaches in a specialist river tank by themselves and keep them away from other loaches especially those from botiidae genus.

Your stocklist is inappropriate and you'll need a larger tank to be able to house the rest. Consider removing the golden algae eaters as they will eventually harass the other fish. Plecos can be territorial and may harass their fellow bottom dwelling tankmates, most especially the elephant nose.
