i just got a jack Dempsey today and my waters pretty cold, how can i warm it up without a heater until i get one, and what is a good, reliable heater?

Exactly what temperature, in either Fahrenheit or Celsius (your choice), is "pretty cold"?

boil some water and do a few waterchanges and replace the old water with boiling water. Just use a thermometer to make sure that the water doesnt get to hot. For a Jack Dembsey your gonna want to have around 78-84 F. You can also put the tank in the microwave for a minute and 30 seconds on 70 percetn power then let it sit for about 3 minutes. No but seriously. Dont do that. (:

if he actually does that you owe him a JD

Haha yeah I know that would be the stupidest thing. And Nick dont worry he will be fine. My oscars lived for like 6 days in room temperature water before I realized my heater was broken. You will be fine but make sure you turn the heater off before you do water changes and wait 15 minutes before turning the heater off and taking the water out.

How cold is the water now?

He says, "room temperature", so your guess is as good as mine???

i live like 15 minutes away from him and im guessing it should be around 70-75 F.
