I have a 140g 6 footer with a false green terror and a texas pair and fry and water temp is 81-83 f. Is this an ok temp for the terror? Is there really a benefit to having a higher temp?

I have seen such a wide range of temps around the net some being low as 75. Dont want to kill an amazing fish because of ignorance.

that temp is ok but i would lower it to around 78-80. higher temps speed up growth rates and so require a little more maintenance than fish at a lower temp with lower metabolic rates would need but i personally keep it at 79. i reserve temps higher than that for when i get an ich break out, if you already keep the tank that high and then have a break out then you cant really raise it much higher when trying to get rid of it and it makes it more resistant. also what is a "false" green terror? do you mean just a regular gold saum? if so then it is perfectly correct to call them just a green terror since that is a trade name and that is what they are commonly called
