Guys, im using the jbl proscan. I know its not as accurate as drip tests.
I had those before but being 40% color blind, i had to have someone with me when i was testing my water.
That was a bitt frustrating for me and my surrounding. I have to say I barely test my water but any other methods i can try?

I change every wednesday and sunday 25-40% and never had any problems.

You can purchase special glasses that may help with color blindness. They work for a large percentage of people...but not everyone so it's a bit of a gamble

Get a non color blind gf. I am color blind to but I can tell most shades. Off in doubt pick your worst case scenario and do a water change
Stock and tank size will give us a good indication of where parameters should be or post us pictures of your readings In decent light

My tank is 1425 (250×95×60) liters my sump is 200 liters with a 6000lph pump and I got also a Fluval FX6 with a wave maker jeabao rw 8 and airpomp with a total of 6600lph. I got 1 airstone in my sump (k1 ) and 3 in my tank with 1 20cm air disc. Also both pump outlets are above waterlevel. Temperatuur is 28,5°c

Stock: 2 split pearl females, 1 split pearl male and one albino pearl male all between 14 and 16cm disc. 4 silver arowanas 13-14cm and one tigrinus around 28-30cm.

I feed 2-3 times a day and change water 2 times a week 25-40%.

Have you tested the tap water for PH, Nitrate and Ammonia as all of these could be affecting the water changes. For example many people on here with Well water have said that they had ammonia in the water. My tap water has 25ppm of Nitrate in it.

If you know the tap water is reliable on a regular basis and things like the PH are static then 25% to 40% per week is easily enough to know that your parameters will be stable, it is only if the PH in the tank is crashing for some reason do you need to check further. 25% or more twice per week is a lot of water changing and you might not need to do that much but if it is not a hassle then no problem.

An Auto drip that goes to waste is a nice luxury on a Ray tank as it means you are not so reliant on the water changes (I still do water changes too)

Personally, I wouldn't trust a dip strip one bit, especially with an app to read it.

You are right I don't trust it either but to be honest I just use it once every 2 or 3 months. Maybe it sounds crazy but i know my fish well enhough to see if there is something wrong with them.

I will test my tap water tommorow.

I don't mind doing water changes. Its pain in te ass when i am starting but somehow i enjoy doing it, its kind of relaxing and when im done i know for sure everything works as it should be.

A drip system would make me lazy and loose grip on the equips as if they still work properly.
