When is the best time to test your water parameters? Before or after a water change? Or is it best to test once before the water change, and again after it.

I like to test before a water change. This way if the parameters are off it tells me that I need more changes more often.

I do both, now and again. To check the water going in is fine, and that i've dont a big enough water change, and also for the aforementioned reason by Karma.

Before and after. It will let you know if you're changing enough water.

I test for all the basics before and after in many tanks, but just to monitor levels. I use a TDS meter to check when I need to do water changes.
