We own a cabin in the mountains and I was wandering since we collect water from a spring could I collect and use this water in my tanks? Could I use it in my saltwater tank?

yes and yes :)

i would guess the same rules apply. You don't know what feeds the spring. It might be run-off from a nuclear plant. Ok, an exaggeration, but I'd handle it the same as any other water until you can verify what it actually contains.

Well, theres nowhere for anything to run into it. It's on a side of a mountain. pretty remote.

take a test kit with ya and test it compared to tap water if its better by all means use it

I probably wouldnt use it for saltwater because of the dissolved solids.

should be ok for both...

i think this would settle it. if it tests above or equal to tap water it should be fine. i would probably still use tap water conditioner though.
