my local waters ph is 7.5 from the tap and were i am located im right next to the filter station so my tap water is very clean (have been to the station and seen all chem readings) so it is great for water changes on most of my tanks. were i have a problem is i have one tank that needs a ph of 6.5 to 6.8. how do you guys drop the ph of your water for changes? i yoused ph down but i like to do water changes on my tanks every week so it will start to get pricey every 2nd or 3rd water change having to buy a bottle of it. is there anther way to drop the ph or are chemicals the only way how do you guys do it for fish that require the lower ph?

RO or Peat

i yous ro for my salt tank and it doesn't really drop the ph any unless my membrain is just spent. and peat? are you talking peat moss ? how would that work and wouldn't it tint the water? im sorry for all the questions this is the first i have ever had to do this and i got out of fresh water about 12 years back and was only dealing with salt for the longest time lol some i really rusty on it. on a side note im really enjoying freshy tanks i have 4 set up and no losses in fish and wow are thay cheaper to stock lol

why the need for 6.8? are you trying to breed? chasing your ph with bottled chemicals is the worse thing you can do. RO is the safest way. peat can work but needs to be changed often and can lead to ph swings. most fish will adapt to a higher ph. a steady ph that is a bit higher is better than having it swing up and down.
