what size hose do you guys use? I am using 1/2" and it's taking forever to drain. What size hose do you guys recommend?

i use regular garden hose (15mm i think) but i strap a 3200 l/h pump to it. i did drain it once to see how long and it took a very long time, long enough for me to get so board i stopped timing and watched tv.

I use 50ft of 1/2" hose to drain and that took me forever to drain 75g of water in one tank. Altogether my waterchange took 3 hrs for just this tank. I think I need to upgrade to bigger hose to drain faster. Is 3/4" consider standard? I don't want to deal with trouble finding faucet adapter for oddball size.

3 hours for 75g with a 1/2 hose doesnt sound right. was there stops or was it just let to drain? i just got a 5/8 hose and i dont want to take 5 hours to do my tank.

45-60 to drain 75g. 50ft hose connected with 3 barb connector which will probably restrict the flow even more. I do no use pump to push was out.

how many feet and how much did you pay for 5/8" hose? Let me know how long it will take you to drain.

i saw an item for a 50' 1/2in tube for under $8. i went to the store and was getting all the things need but they didnt have that tube.... i ended up getting the 5/8 garden hose 50' for under $10.

i didnt really get the hang of it as i was filling a 55g with the hose. took long as i screwed up until i finally could get it to not splash and waste water. total on that was about 45 minutes. im sure it would be faster now though since i know how to do it now.

55g filled and i then pumped that into my 125g in minutes. once ill drain something ill post it.

what kind of store was it that had 50ft 5/8 hose for $8? I saw some hose on Ebay for $70 shipped on 3/4" 50ft.

You can probably shave 10mins off if you use a high head pressure pump to push the water through the tube.

I use a smaller garden hose because I need to aerate my tap as well as possible as I'm adding it. A thinner 1/2" stream of water is easier to break into nice white foam than a 1" rod of water would be. But if your tap isn't gassed like mad, 1" is more efficient.
