Which would be better at providing more oxygen to the tank?

Currently i have 2 wavemakers in my 8 ft tank.
But thinking of removing one of the wavemakers which consumes about 20+ watts of electricity and adding a strong airpump which consumes only 17 watts, planning to attach 2 air disc and maybe some sponge filters to the air pump. which would be better in aerating my tank?

Net result would probably be about the same either way. Would have a different water flow effect from the air pump though, might be good to combine the 2. Sponge filters aren't really needed unless you want some extra bio filtration. They're great for Bio, but not so much on Mech.

I'd guess about the same aerating effect. What is definate though is that the air pump will be waaaay more noisy.

Agreed, air bubbles do not aerate the water as much as surface agitation.

Depends on the air stone used (if any) and placement. You can get a ton of surface agitation and water movement if you place the airlines in the right spots.
