So my landlord said "no more aquariums". Which has put a hold on my mini piebald project, but today I am helping a fellow fishkeeper move and he says he uses these food safe totes for breeding. He gave me these two in Liu of the usual moving tip. One 35 gallon and one 42 gallon. I realize they will bow under pressure but that's what duct tape (the handyman's secret weapon) is for! I will update progress here.

How can your landlord tell you what you can't have? Do you live with your folks? Is it in your lease somewhere that you have exceeded aquarium capacity? If not tell them to kiss it.

If only it were so easy, she deals with my 3 dogs and 7 tanks. Plus I live on the 23rd floor so I assume there is a weight thing too. She is really nice and this way I technically am doing what she wants...

If she is nice and has been lenient, then why don't you return the favor.

Saying rubbermaids don't count seems like a pretty juvenile excuse. Also something that might get you kicked out if it ticks her off bad enough.

See this is why not owning is bad. Your first mistake was letting them know how many tanks you have to begin with. Its better to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. But I think if your feeling really rebellious you should try a rack system or 2 they may not notice the 2 additional tanks.

As a landlord, I'd be pissed if you pulled something like that...

Matt

you are not his land lord.

You are a fellow fish keeper.

This is a fish forum and all for the love and addiction of fish keeping.. ------------------------------------------------------
whatever works safely. I don't see it as anything bad or illegal.

But upstairs, be careful not to put put all your tanks in one spot. That's a lot of weight packed as one and can be a "weight vs floor/ceiling" problem.

As a fellow fishkeeper (and landlord), when your cool landlord tells you, "enough fish tanks"...and then you add more Rubbermaids full of fish then you're asking your landlord to get pissed at you...and become a previously cool landlord.

Just sayin'
