Wby is my Red Devil this black?

I bought a Red Devil 2 weeks ago... even though he came like this will his color change or have I been tricked. Jas any one seen one this dark because no internet pic is like him.

It's a juvenile fish, that hasn't finished fading/peeling. There are millions of juvenile Amphilophus just like this one.

I agree. Personally seen the same color of juvenile RD's at lfs.

Oh okay it's kinda weird lol. My FH is the same I only see light colors but mine is black. I can't wait to see the develop more. Thanks for the insight

I wonder if my red devil is male or female he is month old or two 4-5 inches he is in big tank with zz short body and other african mix central american cichlids help please also why he/she started over night have a black fins

If you want to sex it learn how to properly vent a fish. No need to keep posting pics.
