WC and Water Test Questions

Hi all,

1. How many percent and how often should I do water changes on a 90g and 120g? Assuming its fully stocked.
2. How often should I test the water?
3. Which one do you prefer, a strip or liquid test kit?

1. I'd do 1/3 to 1/2 weekly as a basic guide, but it depends on your nitrates.
2. As needed... Everyday until you're cycled and then occasionally.
3. Liquid.

1. 50% weekly or more often to keep nitrates low, shoot for under 20
2. as often as needed to ensure you are accomplishing goal #1

1. Still depends on how stocked your tank is but I'd say 50% as well.
2. I never test, only when the tank isn't cycled yet or when my fish are acting weird or when a fish is sick.

I do the same for my FW..On my SW I test my water once a week.
