I was wondering the same thing but if i had to geuss, I would say, that becuase they wouldnt be able to trap anything under there disk they would probabley not eat enough.

Probably significantly less given less surface area to house the electroreceptors.

It might also have a harder time controlling its temperature given that again, less surface area to bask in sun warmed waters. A theory that Mr. Miles holds that rays may do in the wild.
