My buddy Justin just gave me the newest addition to my tank last night. For a decent fifty dollars, he gave me his wild caught Crenicichla lenticulata at about 8-9". At the moment he is hiding, but he did come out a little today for a quick swim. He is in incredible shape, and a beautiful looking fish. I should have a few pictures later on this evening for you lovely folk of MFK.

My Amphilophus no longer minds him being in the tank, especially since the pike has found a few wicked hide spots. I've got some nice pieces of driftwood and rocks in there that I originally placed in the tank for my royal panaque. The pike is getting a lot of use out of them as the panaque roams freely with no trouble.

I'm thinking about adding one more fish to this tank, but I'm not sure what to add. What would people recommend? Remember, this is the Amphilophus that destroyed a wonderful hoplias, however the wolf WAS pretty passive. He didn't move very much, either. I'm thinking of another larger cichlid, but at the same time, I don't want it to just turn into a cichlid tank. For my next fish, I'm looking for another larger predator.

I was considering adding a monster catfish, but I don't know if he'll like my panaque, or my Amphilophus.

cool. by Amp..., do you mean midas or what species? Some polys would be cool, but it's pretty risky w/ an aggressive cichlid. I have mine with cichlids, but they're not aggressive ones.

What species of Amphilophus and what size tank

It's a red devil.

I would really like to add a polypterus or two, like an ornate, but I don't want to lose him. If I knew they'd get along okay, I'd stick the senegal I have in there.

I've decided I'd definitely like some oddballs. I can get so many random fish for a fraction of the price, so don't hold back on me! Price is not an option!

Would love to see some pics!

some polys that are already a decent size (let's say 10 inches) should do fine. RD's don't seem to be as aggressive as Midas and some others of the genus.

Unfortunately, most of the pictures I have are on my girlfriend's camera at the moment. I do, however, have two face shots for a sneak preview. Tonight or tomorrow I should have the rest of the pictures up for everyone.

The rest are coming, I promise you. My girlfriend is at work, but hopefully she brings her camera over tonight.
