These were taken just as I got home last night... Went night fishing and netting but didn't catch anything on hook an line, but got these, a ton of crawfish, and plenty of salvini, Tilapia Mariae, and jewels. I wanted to keep the female Jag only, but my Girlfriend convinced me to keep the salvini pair too.

If there's enough interest, i'll keep this updated as they get their own tanks (or divided tank temporarily) and settle in. I'll also update when I catch a male jag for the female!

Very cool. There is a hot spring
Not too far from where I live that I go to to see what I can catch. A local fish store went out of business years ago and turned loose all his stock in there and it is teaming with Africans and common sa cichlids. I never take anything home but it is a riot to see what I can catch.

Woah, that's awesome! Post some pics when you can!

Ya might be making a trip up there soon I will snap some when I do. It isn't huge probably 50'x30' and maybe three feet deep. Wish it was on my property I'd have some sick fish in there for sure. It stays about 85 degrees even in the winter.

That's awesome! I really wish there was somewhere in California where I could catch some cool stuff

So I'm conditioning her to be a bruiser with a big personality, lol. My recipe is a small tank running off of a much larger tank... pulling water from the big tank into the little tank she's in. So far it's working, she doesn't totally flip out when I approach like she did the first full day. I introduced the mirror today to see if she's territorial yet, but it doesn't look like it... So i'll wait until she starts eating better and being more comfortable when i approach.

She stirred up the tank when I came close with the camera... good progress so far, but she only seems to want to eat a few tadpoles instead of prepared foods... patience is key!

P.S. she's set up on my front porch, where i've had a tank set up for a couple years... so this is under natural (but indirect and shaded) lighting
