Around may of this year...similar time as Liz found hers...i came across a little one about 1.5" almost dried out, and heading far from water. Unfortunately the gf was with me, so this thing was coming with us, ha. Anyways, thats the story, now hes a good 4 inches and doing great.

SO the question...its getting cooler here in CT. Hes obviously never hibernated before, so if i keep temps and lighting steady i'm assuming he will act as normal? Or will he go through a winter brumation where he stops eating and doesn't do much?

EDIT: tank setup is a 20l with lots of driftwood, UVB and basking light.

Thanks!

No, as long as you keep it at the same temperature you have been it shouldn't try to hibernate or anything. Keep the water temperature in the high 70's and you'll be fine.

Well actualy Vicious sometimes it isnt as simple as that:D The awnser is that both things can happen. When my painteds were young during the winter they tended to not eat for long periods of time even with water in the normal range:confused: Its much like what happens to box turts when they are denied of hibernation. But do what Vicious told you to, set them up inside keep the temps warm and you should be fine. Hibernating turts can be dangerous specialy when you dont have prior experience. Surprisingly both my turts (one of them lost in the last winter:() lost that habit as they grew and now the surviver is a acomplished begger:D
