I found a large group of ramshorn snails and another species similar to the viviparus while fishing sardis lake in Mississippi. Is there any treatment or precautions i should take if i use them as feeders?

what if you buy bulk, freeze them? or you can freeze other options:strips of fish, shrimp, etc.

Mystery snails and the like will breed quickly. If you set up a planted ten gallon with cherry shrimp and snails...my tank was very self sufficient. Since it was heavily planted and only had shrimp and snails, I rarely did water changes and had a simple sponge filter. It took a few months to get established but once it did, there were dozens of snails that became an annoyance and hundreds of shrimp(from an original 30).

WC are often carrying internal parasites, such as trematodes and the like, that do not affect the snails at all. The parasites stay dormant and wait to get eaten to mature in the intestines of fish. I just wouldnt trust wc

Wife said no more tanks, i used to have a snail breeding tank with blue, purple, pink, white and gold apple snails but wife said no.
I think i will freeze the wc snails.

It's not so much the temperature as it is the length of time frozen compared to the size of the item that's frozen. The idea is to disrupt cellular processes long enough that they won't restore once thawed out. Freezing to 0F is sufficient to kill parasites. Most home freezers freeze to -10 to 0F. Several high-end freezers freeze to -37F. Large parasitic nematodes and lice should be frozen for 2 weeks to destroy all osmotic processes in something the size of a snail. Smaller parasites would require a week in the freezer. I've always opted for the worst case and freeze my fresh fish foods for a month. Freshness of the items is normally at max for 2 months before starting to drop off. This is dependent on the amount of air left with the items. The less air the better. Mark the bags with the name of what's inside and the date frozen. Place new bags behind older bags to help in maintaining a proper rotation to gain the benefits of feeding the freshest foods possible. Hope this helps.
