well came home from school to day to my 5in senegul dead as a door nob :( .
had him and another since about 2in and grew em up. the amonia was fine and the nitrates were a tad as usual, but nothing dangerous. the other bichir is fine and so is the discus and other tankmates. water temp is 80. cut him open to chech for anything lodged, but nada. id been feeding him bloodworms and crickets daily but ran out and hadnt fed in about 5 days. The guy didnt starve did he? anyone else had one keel over on them for no apparent reason?

I found a juvi senegal perched on its pectoral fins on the bottom just kind of being a bichir.I came back to check and it hadn't moved in lmost an hour (rare for senegals) I went to touch it and it just fell over onto its side COD unknown but suspect some form of internal bacterial infection-Anne

Its the old crap happens theory its not pleasan but it happens -Anne

not a scratch on him too, oh well im thinking of getting a larger one now, maybe even an albino

sorry for the lost, seems theres no clear problem, bichirs are pretty hardy, start again get yourself a new bichir :)

good luck with the next one

My deepest condolences...

I dun think it's starvation..bichir can go hungry for 1-2week....in the wild they dun get to eat daily too IMHO.

what's your bichir tank ph ?
Did your bichir turn pale gradually over these 5 days before it died ?
