Ok so, I broke my custom glass top for my 180. It has no middle support beams so I got one made. Its broken now. Im goingot get a new one made that is just two big glass squares to put over the majority of my tank.

UNTIL THEN How far do you think I should lower my water level? My florida gar allready jumped out last night, im worried the aro will do the same... Also is there any praticular time I should worry about it jumping ? I wont get the new top for atleast a week... Maybe lower it 3 inches ? The aro is only 8 inches.

why don´t you cover your tank with something and let the water level the way it is?

Agreed aros can jump high from a young age. Adults can get.up to 6' out the water, so lowering water level will not help much.

yeah plywood? Just cut to dimensions and a hole for the light ? It doesnt look that pretty tho. But it will have to do for the molment I guess thanks guys !

I had a fish jump, and he'd been out at least 5 minutes before I found him. He was totally DRY to the touch, and obviously dead. Until my husband shook the heck out of him underwater. He twitched a few times, and swam off. Of course I named him Lazarus after that.

Yea went to go buy plywood... Walked by plexi glass and had a stroke of brilliance.... Not really I thought more along the lines of "you idiot why didnt you use plexi from the start" haha. So plexiglass is what I went with
