Does any here have any personal experience with weather loaches (aka dojo loach) eating the Malaysian trumpet snails.
I know in theory that loaches eat snails, but do these particular loaches eat these particular snails?

I like snails to clean tanks, but prefer to throw excess to my loaches (they are the only kind who can live with goldfish...). I find Malaysian trumpet snails to clean/aerate the substrate the best.

Weather loaches do not have the mouth structure that will allow them to eat any species of snails. Shrimps however are another story especially when they molt. Anything about dojos preying on snails is pure bunk. I have never noticed them eating my apple snails either. People who parrot about dojos eating snails either never had the time to study the anatomy of the serpentine loaches or just made it up. All serpentine loaches including the kuhlis do not eat snails. Loaches of the botiine genus on the other hand, do as snails make up most of their diet in the wild.

Thank you Lupe! I needed this information as well!

Makes a Cool Water tank much easier to keep clean!
