Weather Loach Whiskers...

I've had a golden weather (dojo) loach for a couple months. His name is Mr. Whiskers, the only problem is that 2 of his top whiskers on the left side are missing. they're just stubs and they havent grown back yet.

will they grow back?

i use a fine sand
he has never been in any sharp gravel.

What are your water parameters especially nitrate and tank maintenance?

no nitrates or amonia
30-50% water change every week
not over or under fed

What test kit are you using? Is the tank heavily planted? I find it impossible to have zero nitrate unless your tank is heavily planted, your test kit is defective or you're doing large daily water changes.
