Ok... So as I'm sure most of you know Craigslist is a WONDERFULL Thing for people like us, Sometimes we are able to find AWSOME Deals sometimes not so much.... Well Here is one of those AWSOME Deals..

I get a lead on a 65 gallon Tank with a "small" leak, so I contact the guy thinking no big deal... I was on the hunt for some glass for my Test build tank anyway as I really didn't want to tear apart a perfectly good 90 Gallon Corner for a test tank :(

So anyway I get on the phone and find out that not only does he want to give away a 65 Gallon but also a larger "home made" 75 Gallon :headbang2

So later that afternoon I head over to his house to pick up the tanks, Great guy!! Not only did I score the 2 tanks... but a metal stand for the 65 and 2 more small tanks :headbang2 a 15 and a 20 G... All for the low low price of... FREE!!!

Apparently he has more tanks in his garage (which if what I saw was what he was talking about are some decent size tanks all 50G and larger) which he will be digging out sometime and giving me a call to take them away

A couple of photos of when I dumped them in the small garage (excuse the mess :thumbsdow)

75 Gallon ... Really not looking forward to the scrubbing on this one!

65 Gallon... Cleaning won't be fun on this one either but it needs to be re sealed... I'm thinking a nice community tank... Loads of live bearers and a few nice Plecos of some sort... gold nuggets or something else.

20 Gallon... Seriously...I'm going to either be sick of cleaning or I'm going to have to get some professional help for my sore shoulder at this point!!... Sump for one of the other two tanks ;)

15 Gallon... Seriously ... anyone know a good massage therapist in Montreal... MORE cleaning :(... but the money saved on the tanks means I can afford the massage :headbang2  - Another sump for a small group of breeding tanks I have set up with Cons... Saves me a few heaters if I just group all of the tanks like that.

So... thats pretty much going to be all my spare time this Saturday... what is everyones tricks for removing Calcium build up like this...

wow i have never seen a tank that dirty

Wow really cool, cleaning might be a pain though. Wonder how he (the old owner) resisted the urge to reuse those tanks.

PH Down. It contains Sulfuric acid that eats away at the calcium. Just wear gloves.

Clean it with vinegar. I dilute mine a little bit, but its not an exact process by any means.
I was cnsidering that today at work... i had heard about using vinigar but never actually had to do it since I've never let a tank get that bad before... I'll give that a shot and see how it works.

Expect pics again on Saturday or MAYBE tomorrow night :D
