weeksii eyesight

i have a lil pot hideout for my weeksii and i noticed everytime i creep on him. he sees me perfectly!! i thought they're like semi blind?!? how come i cant creep up on him and get a good look without him noticing me?!?!?

There are a couple of things to consider. First of all, while most bichirs don't seem to be able to distinguish small items very well....their vision is certainly good enough to see a large object (like a moving human) fairly well. Secondly, bichirs have a well-developed lateral line and are very sensitive to vibrations. Simply walking near their tank will set up vibrations in the floor that are transferred to the water where the bichir can sense them. Your P. weeksii might know you're coming even before it sees you.
