I am thinking about getting a Weeksii from Rehobothaquatics. The smallest they have is approx 8". I have several other polys in the tank in the 4.5"-6" ranges. Would this be a risky proposition? I emailed him to see how close he could get in size and that was the smallest he could do for the palmas palmas and weeksii. I'm dieing to get these but don't want to add them to the tank and lose the others.....

the ones in the 6" range should be fine. the smallest ones would be risky. could possibly work with the palmas palmas, but the risk is too real with the weeksii as is (and if it comes in bigger, then bye bye small bichirs)

That figures. It seems like when I have the money and means....something always has to come into play.

At one time I had 2 12" congicus, 1 14" ornate, 1 10" weeksii, and 2 8" lapradei all living together. The only problem I ever had was the ornate would nip at the weeksii whenever he got close. Other than that they all lived fine together in a 220 gallon tank. My weeksii ate a 2.5 inch blue dempsey which was costly but my fault for putting that small of a fish in the tank. I think a 8" weeksii would be fine in your tank.

Well it can't be any duller than my ornate...maybe it would be as active as my :turtle:'s...they are all over the tank....:grinno:

See the difference is my largest would be the weeksii at 8-9", and the smallest my albino sen and p.pollis at 4". Half the size of the weeksii.

I had to weeksii and both were shy and boring. Hopefully, you'll have better luck than me.

How big were your Weeksi? Mine is 13-14" and is a little shy but it's kind of hit and miss with him. He's never completely motionless for long periods of time. He'll at least move from one place to another and cruises the tank here and there. I don't know how he acted when smaller because I bought him as an adult. He's pretty cool, definitely not boring.

Balton, my weeksii was a good size before I gave up on it and sold it a good owner. Shy as hell and spend all day hiding.
