I have a 7" Armatus, recently added 4" Army, only fish in the tank. Both attack rosies on impact. How long did you guys starve yours before they stroke dead food. Im afraid my larger Army will attack the smaller one if starve too long.
Thanks Ed

I don't own armatus.

But I know my tat would shank every fish in the tank if I starved it. It shanked a same size pbass after 4 days with no food.

And armatus have worse attitudes on average.

Sounds like a pretty volitile situation. That's a big size difference. My group starts showing aggression towards eachother after 3 days, and they don't vary in size more than an inch.

I've never tried breaking any Hydros without having other fish in the tank. May prove to be very difficult. I've always relied on "teacher fish"

The armys been without feeders for 2 days and last night all i heard was splashing. The big army was goin after the lil guy. I think I can break the big army if he was solo in the tank. I think lil guy might have to go.

do they watch you when u come up to the tank to put food in yet? if they do i would get them watching, then drop in frozen in the powerhead...

if they r looking at it, its a start... keep trying and only feed them one feeder if they dont eat the frozen... give them a bunch of feeders only once a week...

What are you using for filters?

Can you drop Krill in the output? Works best with HOBs like AC110s. Easiest to get them on Krill as it "dances" in the filter output, then they will begin the process of recognizing you, making it easier to ttransition to frozen.

Fishing line does work too..... Had this work on 1 of the last group, as Krill doesn't dance in my tank.

^^

yeap throw the krill into the output if he see's it he will attack. worked with mine. if he dont try turnin the lights off or puting a output closer to wear they hang out.

Broke down today and dropped in some feeders both armys are fat and in their respective corners. I try to ween them later but the first order of business was to stop the Big army from attacking the smaller one. So I threw in some 4" Geo Altifrons as dither. now the big army is busy keeping his corner geo-free. the small army chills behind the geos. haha this is not a long term fix just a bandaid

agreed.
you can try a method dmack used for pbass, that is to put in one feeder at a time and let them get used to you doing that.
after several days do the same, but drop dead food after each feeder.:D
