I work for a Aquarium Design Group in Houston,TX. I have a client with a tank containing 2 monos (both are 18''+). The only thing they are currently really eating is FD krill. Apparently thats all the previous owner ever fed them , besides tankmates. I fear the only reason the haven't fallen apart is that I ocassionally hand feed them silversides stuffed with dianichi & nlspectrum pellets weekly when I arrive for service.

I'm well aware of the nutritional drawbacks of this and i'm trying to find a good xl dry food to use as a staple and unfortunately frozen food isn't really an option with this client, as well as starving tactics.

I was just curious what dry floating pelleted foods other people have had success with? The monos don't really seem to want to eat anywhere below 1ft in the water column so something that floats would be best. Plus they are quite well trained to nail food off the surface and with the huge amount of other fish in the tank strategicly floating foods would again work best in this case.

Just looking for suggestions before I open 92346194619 packages trying to find something they'll eat during my weekly visits.

Not to tease everyone cuz I haven't snapped any pics yet (i will soon) but it's a really sweet tank and quite unique amongst "serviced" ie non-hobbyist tanks.

Heres the specs:
Tank Size: 10ft x 42'' x 42''
Total Capacity: aprox. 1000 gallons incl. sump.
Filtration: 2 X ehiem 2262s plumbed through bottom. HUGE Precison Marine WetDry with dual overflows and returns on both ends.
Built-In Drain and Fill.
500-700gallon water change performed weekly

1x 24'' Ornate Polypterus

first will need to see a photo to diagnose the situation...JK would love to see the tank though...but if they are smashing FD Krill off the top then you should try Hikari Food Sticks...First mix alittle in with the FD krill then add more then more until only on food sticks...hey it worked for me!!! How oftened to you feed them? Don't be afraid to go a week with out feeding them. GL let me know how it goes!!!
 
Mine hammer hikari food sticks like there's no tomorrow and will also eat a good amount of hikari cichlid gold. If other fish are eating the pellets the cichla usually aren't going to wait long to try it for themselves. At first they'd only eat the food sticks but now they eat both! Give it a try.
