So at some point this summer the guy who owns my apartment is planning to either sell it or raise rent, and either way i'll probably be relocating. I can keep my most important fish in a 75 and rehome the rest, but the problem is I don't know if a 75 is too big for a typical 2nd story apartment or if it would have to be on the first floor. If anybody has any thoughts on that they would be appreciated.

My second option should that have to happen would be to attempt bringing my stock down to a pair of 40 breeders. If I had to do the pair of 40s instead of a 75 do you think i'd be able to get away with the following:

Tank 1: 2 senegal bichirs, 1 delhezi, ABK, Turquoise Severum
- Would be filtered by AC110 & a Fluval 303

Tank 2: EBJD solo tank
- Would be filtered by AC 110

Just Figured I'd try to get some opinions before the task is right at the doorstep in June. My Biggest worry is the delhezi but i'm hoping that since they don't swim a ton I could get away with the 40B for a year.

Thanks for all inputs, im still hoping that I can get a place that's first floor to avoid this problem.

A 75 should be fine. Alot depends on what type of floor it is. Back when I lived in an apt it had a concrete floor on the third floor. I had a 120 and a 125 up there. It was fine until I moved.

Your best bet is talk to the apartment owner or the maintenance person. Find out what walls are load barring walls and ask if there are any weak points in the apartment. With out knowing the specifics of the building no one will be able to tell you exactly if it will be safe or not.

What I can tell is that in my 3rd floor apartment is I can not have a large aquarium on the outside walls. I had a 75 on the outside wall of the master bedroom and the floor started to bow and became unstable. The tank would shake when walking by it. After I moved the tank to the adjacent wall it was fine. I am going to be replacing the 75 with a 125 thats in storage in a week or so.

I guess as ziggy mentioned depends on what type of floor you have... i live in Hong Kong where its basically ALL apartments and i have a 200G tank sitting at home comfortably with no problems of the floor sinking...

If your gonna be moving why not rent a house there usually the same price if not cheaper then apartments atleast were I live they are.

Rent from some MFK member with monster tanks. Then you can put your fishys in them when he isn't looking.

hmm thanks for the input, ill look in to seeing what the structure is like and go from there
