weight of a 180 gallon

how much does a 125 gallon tank or a 180 gallon glass tank weigh full of water?

10lbs per gallon is a decent rule of thumb.

It would include everything including rocks and sand, but it's not completely accurate.

180g tank is about 325 pounds 169 gallons of water is 1407 pounds, so just tank and water would be over 1700 pounds. The 10 pounds per gallon estimates out real close.

I use 10lbs per gallon as well as it's a bit over rated but better to know the higher end than to be off on the other end.

thanks for the replies, I am debating on either building a diy stand for the 180, buying a heavy duty shelve rack from either lowes or home depot (I think they have some that can handle up to 1800 lbs per shelf or over 7500lbs total weight for the entire rack) or just buy a stand. I have not committed to either option yet since i am currently searching on this site for some of the designs for diy stands and comparing them to time and money vs money to just by a stand or to by the rack system.

get the GORILLA RACKS they are rated @ 3500LBS & 4500lbs heavy duty. and the shelves are adjustable so you could stack 2 tanks. if you frame it up with some simple, thin wood trim, to cover the metal, it would be sweet.
