ok so i have a 25g with a couple barbs in it but it just started to develop this brown alge stuff on EVERYTHING...i dont know if its safe to send in a pleco to clean it up or should i drain and clean the whole tank..of and WHAT IS THIS? ive never seen this before its not thick just like a dark brown film is developing on everything in the tank

Brown algae, from my limited knowledge is due to excessive nutrients in the water (feed em less), and a weak lighting. You can mechanically get rid of it, if you'd like a band-aid solution....

yeah i get that stuff too an apple snail cleans it up fast but will eat ur plants
what i do is push him off every time he tries to eat the plants

Do you have pics of this snail? What plants did he eat? Perhaps yours is a Pomacea canaliculata rather than Pomacea bridgesii.
