Weird growth?

My texas got a scratch about 2 weeks ago under his throat.. i thought he got it from rubbing against a rock or something. It seemed to get better and looked like it was going away then about 3 days ago he started breathing realy hard and i noticed a red/white sore or growth right behind the gill flap and right above the fin. The parameters are

nitrites 0
ph 7.4
nitrates 10ppm
ammonia 0

Set up a tank/tupperware container with aquarium water and add some aquarium salt to get the SG to about 1.023. This will mimic a saltwater tank environment, which most freshwater bacteria, parasites and fungus cannot tolerate. Leave it in there for 3-4 minutes, then place back in the main tank. Do this once daily until healed.

We do this at work, and the opposite (dip saltwater fish into freshwater) and it works wonderfully.

o i was goin to put it into a 30 gallon tub fill it with tankwater put a heater and a air pump on it then put some nitrofuricin green powder in with it to help it if that doesnt waor i'll try the salt
